    FAQ's

What types of hoses are there?

There are many different kinds of hoses, each with their own purpose.

Garden Hose: This is the most common type of hose, used for general watering tasks around the house and garden. They come in various lengths and diameters, typically made from vinyl or rubber.

Medium Duty Hose: A step up from your standard garden hose, these are designed for tasks requiring slightly more pressure, like pressure washers or for reaching further distances. They are often constructed with reinforced layers for added durability.

Heavy Duty Hose: Built for the toughest jobs, these hoses can handle high water pressure and are ideal for construction sites or heavy-duty cleaning tasks. They are typically thicker and more robust than garden hoses.

Coil/Spiral Hose: These hoses come in a pre-coiled design that saves storage space and helps prevent kinks or tangles. They are a good option for smaller yards or when easy maneuverability is needed.

Expandable Hose: These hoses contract when not in use and expand when filled with water, making them very portable and easy to store. However, they may not be as durable as traditional hoses.

Lay Flat Hose: These flat hoses are designed to lay flat on the ground, conforming to uneven surfaces. They are ideal for watering large areas or gardens with raised beds.

Soaker Hose: These porous hoses allow water to seep out slowly along its entire length, perfect for deep root watering of plants and flower beds. They are a water-saving option compared to traditional watering methods.

Weeper Hose: Similar to soaker hoses, weepers have tiny holes that emit water slowly and directly to plant roots. They are ideal for established plants or gardens with delicate root systems.

What diameter hose do I need?

Typically, we recommend people go for a 12mm hose as it achieves everything you'd need a hose for, it's the "not too much not too little" of hose diameters.

If you have a sprinkler system, or like to give your car a strong wash, then you should opt for an 18mm, as that sends more volume through. Alternatively, if you don't need much pressure at all, and just want to water a few items, then smaller sizes below 12mm would be better for you.

How do I prevent kinks in my hose?

Our products are naturally kink resistant, but depending on the temperature (especially in winter), hoses naturally do tend to kink when stored incorrectly.

To never worry about hose kinks, we highly recommend buying a hose cart or reel with your hose to make it last longer. This ensures your hose can be stored properly, doesn't get any accidental damage, and makes storage super easy.

How should I store my hose?

Hoses are best stored in places that are outside of direct sunlight and rain, as these can wear down the UV treatment and break down the PVC slowly. This could mean just simply putting it in your garage, shed, or in a covered area.

When should I turn my sprinkler system on?

Sprinklers are best turned on during the night or early morning before the sun rises. This helps reduce natural evaporation which saves you water.

What does a tap timer do?

A tap timer is a simple way to automate your watering for your garden. They work by directly attaching to your tap and either manually or automatically setting a timer for the length of the watering cycle.

Whats the difference between a basic controller and a smart irrigation controller?

Basic irrigation controllers work on a push-button basis, you press the mode you want, and it does it for you. Smart irrigation controllers on the other hand adapt to your environment, particularly through rain sensors and temperature sensors. This reduces the amount of water used.

    What are hose connectors?

Connectors are fittings that attach hoses to water sources (taps), other hoses, or watering tools (sprinklers, sprayers) in your irrigation system. They come in various types and materials to suit different applications.

What spray patterns do most hose hand sprayers have?

Most hose hand sprayers will have at least two or three basic spray pattern. Here's a breakdown of the common spray patterns you'll find:

Mist: A fine, gentle spray ideal for delicate plants, seedlings, or creating humidity.

Shower: A moderate flow of water in a cone-shaped pattern, suitable for general watering of most plants and gardens.

Jet: A powerful, concentrated stream of water for cleaning tasks like washing your car, rinsing off dirt, or reaching into tight spaces.

    Additional Patterns on Multi-Pattern Sprayers:

Some hose hand sprayers, particularly multi-pattern sprayers, might offer additional options beyond the basic three:

Flat: A wide, flat fan-shaped spray useful for watering larger areas or rinsing surfaces.

Soaker: A gentle, concentrated flow suitable for deep watering around plant bases without disturbing soil.

Angle: A spray pattern at an angle, helpful for reaching under leaves or targeting specific areas.

Is a hose reel cart neccessary?

We believe so, without a hose reel cart, hoses can kink super easily, resulting in them breaking sooner. Hose reel carts also make packing up and storage much easier.
